Hope Beyond Hope was selected as one of six nonprofits to participate in the Social Accelerator Cohort run jointly by the Nashville Entrepreneur Center (EC) and Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM). The accelerator helps for profit and nonprofit businesses turn their ideas for growing sustainable enterprises into investable businesses in 14 weeks. In the past three years the EC accelerator has launched more than 80 businesses that have collectively raised more than $23 million in startup capital and the CNM currently supports more than 800 nonprofit members.

Social enterprises are businesses built to maximize their social good. They may be nonprofit, lifestyle for-profits, or high-potential startups, but their core purpose is to drive a greater good. To be the most effective social enterprises possible, they must also be able to create sustainable businesses. It is not enough just to want to make a difference you need a good strategy and great execution to make that difference.

HBH will work to create a medication cost transparency engine; a software application that will allow health care providers and patients locate the best-priced medication within the parameters of their insurance coverage (if they have it) and budget. Being able to afford medications leads to better adherence with treatment and decrease overall health care expenditures.

NOTE: The program will begin in January.
